2 Days: Luxor Temples and Tombs

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, begin your magical journey through Thebes, the sacred land. Start with the West Bank of Luxor, home to some of the most remarkable monuments in ancient Egypt. Visit the legendary Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis of the great Pharaohs and rulers of the New Kingdom, where you will have the chance to enter the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

Continue to the Howard Carter House, the former residence of the archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb, offering a fascinating glimpse into his life and work. Next, explore the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, one of the finest architectural masterpieces of ancient Egypt, uniquely carved into the cliffs of the mountain. Before leaving the West Bank, stop at the towering Colossi of Memnon, the two iconic statues of King Amenhotep III.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the East Bank of Luxor. Here, explore the vast Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious structure ever built, dedicated primarily to the god Amun-Ra. Its construction began during the Middle Kingdom, with parts dating back as early as the 3rd Dynasty, and it continued to grow for over 2,000 years.

End your day with a visit to the elegant Luxor Temple, built during the 12th Dynasty and later expanded by Ramses II. Located in the heart of ancient Thebes, this temple was also dedicated to Amun-Ra and remains one of Egypt’s most beautiful monuments.

After your tour, you will return to your hotel to rest and refresh.

Day 3: Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Luxor and meet your tour guide for a fascinating journey to Edfu and Kom Ombo.

Begin with a visit to the impressive Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus. This temple is considered the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt, offering incredible insights into ancient religious life. According to Egyptian mythology, it marks the place where Horus avenged the murder of his father Osiris by defeating Seth.

Continue driving to the city of Kom Ombo to explore its unique riverside temple. The Temple of Kom Ombo is remarkable for its unusual double design, with one side dedicated to Haroeris (Horus the Elder), the falcon-headed god, and the other to Sobek, the crocodile-headed god of fertility and creator of the world. The temple’s dual dedication makes it one of the most distinctive sanctuaries in Egypt. Kom Ombo is also historically significant for its role in sugar-cane cultivation.

Arrive in Aswan, where you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before beginning your city tour. Visit the monumental High Dam, constructed in the 1960s under President Gamal Abdel Nasser to control the Nile flood and provide electricity to Egypt. Then, take a scenic motorboat ride across the Nile to Agilika Island to see the enchanting Temple of Philae, a beautiful structure built during the Greco-Roman period and dedicated to the goddess Isis, the mother of Horus.

At the end of the day, you will be transferred to your hotel in Aswan for check-in.

Overnight in Aswan.

Day 4: Tour of Abu Simbel

Begin the day with a breakfast box from your hotel in Aswan, then check out and travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to Abu Simbel. In ancient times, this site was known as Meha, first recorded during the 18th Dynasty when Pharaohs Ay and Horemheb commissioned rock-cut chapels in the nearby hills.

Upon arrival, explore the magnificent Temples of Abu Simbel, masterpieces built by King Ramses II. The larger temple was dedicated to the sun god Ra-Horakhty and stands as one of the most impressive monuments of ancient Egypt. The smaller temple was devoted to Ramses II himself and his beloved queen, Nefertari, symbolizing both divine power and eternal love.

After completing your tour, you will return to Aswan, where you’ll be transferred to the airport or train station for your journey back to Cairo.
